About The Author

Through ink, I plant courage in children. Through stories, I give them wings to soar.

Through hope, I light their path and their tomorrow.

— Ayodele Ezekiel Adekalu

I grew up in a polygamous family, a childhood shaped by separation and the absence of both parents under one roof. My father was a man of great potential, but the choice of polygamy meant I never experienced the stability of being raised by both parents together. My mother, though living apart, stayed close enough to pour love into our lives whenever she could. Those early years taught me a lifelong lesson: when parents are divided, children carry emotional burdens they should never have to bear. That conviction still drives my counsel to parents today — that reconciliation is never too high a price to pay.

Yet even in those cracks, light found its way in. Stories became my refuge — comic magazines, Yoruba folktales rich with wisdom and proverbs, and Bible stories filled with courage, faith, and deliverance. They shaped my imagination, strengthened my identity, and quietly planted hope in my heart. In time, I began to write and draw. My letters made people laugh, my stories stirred hearts, and what began as a childhood passion gradually revealed itself as a calling: to sow courage, identity, and hope into young lives through storytelling.

This calling later found structure and depth through formal training in education. I hold a degree in Education and Language from Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria, and a Master’s degree in Inclusive Education from Manchester Metropolitan University, United Kingdom. This academic grounding, combined with years of hands-on experience, enables me to write stories that are not only engaging, but also developmentally appropriate, inclusive, and meaningful for children of diverse backgrounds and learning needs.

My journey with children has always extended far beyond the written page. Through teaching, counselling, school leadership, and drama ministry, I spent decades nurturing children and guiding families. I wrote, produced, and acted in stage dramas that travelled across states and communities, leaving lasting impressions on young hearts. Parents, teachers, and children have shared how these stories helped them see themselves differently and face life with renewed confidence. My creative work has also included the production of two films, with more stories yet to be brought to life on screen.

Today, now based in the United Kingdom, I continue to write stories that nurture identity, inspire resilience, and awaken hope in children across Africa and around the world. These lived experiences form the heartbeat behind Ink of Hope Books. My books are more than stories — they are seeds of courage, belonging, and purpose planted into the tender soil of young minds.

Through Ink of Hope Books, I partner with parents, educators, and communities to craft literature that celebrates culture, sparks imagination, and shapes values. My vision is clear: that no child feels unseen, that every child discovers their worth, and that generations to come are equipped to soar.

Through ink, I plant courage in children.

Through stories, I give them wings to soar.

Through hope, I light their path and their tomorrow.
